Custom Wavefront LASIK
At New Vision Eye Clinic, we exclusively use the most advanced technology available. All of the LASIK and LASEK procedures laser carried out in our clinics utilize Wavefront laser technology as standard.
Wavefront technology uses a laser to reshape the cornea with minimal impact on its natural profile, reducing the risk of glare and difficulty seeing at night, thereby improving your prospects for optimal vision.
How does Custom Wavefront LASIK work?
Custom Wavefront LASIK utilizes the latest laser vision technology to create a three-dimensional map of the eye (a Wavefront map). This three-dimensional map will reveal any irregularities in the way that your eye processes images. The data in the map then guides the laser in customizing treatment to reshape your eye’s corneal surface, correcting any irregularities. Because the laser is able to re-shape your cornea even more precisely than with traditional LASIK, Custom Wavefront LASIK usually leads to better individual vision correction outcomes.
The advantages of Custom Wavefront LASIK
- You have a higher chance of achieving 20/20 vision – or better
- You have a lower chance of losing visual quality or contrast sensitivity
- You have a lower chance of experiencing glare, halos, or disturbances with night-vision
- Studies show that Custom Wavefront LASIK’s results are more predictable compared to traditional LASIK
Can anyone have Custom Wavefront LASIK surgery?
Wavefront LASIK removes more corneal tissue than conventional LASIK, so patients with thin corneas may not be good candidates. There is also an upper limit to the degree of correction that Wavefront software can achieve, so patients with more extreme myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism may not be suitable.
Speak to an ophthalmologist about your suitability for Custom Wavefront LASIK, and they will determine the treatment option that is best for you.
